The Indian Institute of Technology Rajasthan was established in 2008 by Government of India. The Indian Institute of Technology Rajasthan, forms a part of the league along with eight new IITs proposed by the MHRD, Government of India. The Indian Institute of Technology Rajasthan represents a distinctive culture of engineering and science education along with other areas of scholarship and generates research to best fulfil the current and emerging needs of society. IIT Jodhpur will be located about 12 km from Jodhpur city on National Highway 65 which connects Jodhpur to Nagaur. The IIT site would be sprawling about 900 acres of land around Jhipasni and Gharao villages.IIT Rajasthan is located in a temporary campus on the premises of MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur. The infrastructure available is effectively utilized and selectively upgraded to meet the requirements of research and teaching activities.
