Karnataka To Be A Part Of NEET From 2014

After a more than seasoned dramatic art in Karnataka over NEET, a common exam conducted by MCI (Medical Council of India) for admission in all Medical colleges in the country, the state has finally decided not to participate in the NEET exam. With the high court passing a stay order on the NEET exam on November 22, Monday; DV Sadananda Gowda, the Karnataka Chief Minister sent a letter to the Centre requesting Karnataka to be exempted from NEET up till 2014.

The letter also stated that plus 2 syllabus of Karnataka and the NEET syllabus based on CBSE have more than 20% variation. A majority in Karnataka hold an opinion that participation in NEET should be differed upto 2014. The Karnataka Chief Minister also highlighted the fact that the final NEET UG syllabus was announced by MCI on November 4 whereas other entrance exam dates are also being announced by premier agencies.

As a result, the whole only one-All-India-Medical-Entrance-Exam characteristic of NEET is already diluted by the agencies announcing dates of their own exams. However Mr.Gowda assured the centre about Karnataka adopting the National Science Syllabus from 2012-13, which would be given an edge to the Karnataka students in NEET.
