IIM Raipur (Indian Institute of Management – Raipur) has made a rural assignment compulsory for their students. Graduates of the PG Program, the major course at IIM, will have to spend a week in rural India in order to understand the spirit of true India.
The sources from IIM-Raipur revealed that rural marketing is one of the buzzword; many marketing executives are detached from the true world. The program will be done in joint venture with Padma Shri awardee from Chhattisgarh Pholbasan Yadav, who has been functioning with over 10000 women on self- help groups.
While pursuing this program, graduates are expected to take up a project on their own and prepare a report on what new ideas can be executed in the village. The course will be officially commenced in the coming academic session and students will have to spend 1 week in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.
