The Karnataka CET 2012 (Common Entrance Test) after a delay of over 20 days, finally took off on May 21. A number of 1,20,945 candidates appeared for the exam on day one at 248 centres, out of which 60 were in Bangalore. Students found Maths to be little tough, while biology appeared to be a smooth walk for many students. Over 90,169 candidates appeared for the Biology paper and 1,16,324 candidates took Maths paper.
The sources revealed that, after the analysis it was found that most of the questions in biology were simple and memory based and even an average student could answer 50 of 60 questions. In addition, while one question could have two answers, they also brought to notice a spelling mistake in another question. However, no questions was repeated from the previous years paper.
Mathematics paper was said to be lengthy and had moderate questions. As per the experts, an above average student could answer 10% of the questions and around 10-12 questions proved to be time consuming. The Police security around 200 meters radius around the centres was tight enough for protection and also the photocopying centres were directed to remain closed on the exam day.
According to the sources, this year about 150 extra government medical seats for undergraduate courses can be expected. This would be the last time when students are taking CET, as from the next year students will have to appear for the National eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
