VTU Supplementary Examinations On Hold

The Karnataka High Court has put VTU's (Visvesvaraya Technologicl University) Supplementary Examinations on hold. A bench of the Karnataka High Court ordered to discontinue the single bench order which asked the VTU to notify the date for supplementary exams for about 30,000 engineering students.

Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen heading the division bench passed an order after hearing two writ appeals, one by the VTU and other by aggrieved students denied interim relief by the single bench. The next hearing will be held on September 18, 2012.

The students who have become ineligible to join the fifth semester on account of non-clearance of certain subjects from previous semesters, claimed that they were not given the same benefit of supplementary Examinations by the single bench as given to students who joined the course in 2011-12.

The order was passed after counsel for petitioners told the court that RTI information revealed this information and it amounts to contempt of court. Bangalore-based Citizen Action Forum, in its PIL, claimed that the Master Plan 2015, notified by the BDA on June 25, 2007 was without jurisdiction.

However, the examination details shall be announced only after the order is sent from High Court. For more updates keep visiting.
