It was just two days before the test when 50 exam forms of candidates appearing for the first entrance exam of M.Phil and Ph.D for Barkatullah University were omitted on Wednesday.
The deputy registrar D.B Bharti said "We will refund Rs.2500 fees to the candidates if the forms are rejected because, of the mistake committed by the university. In other cases, the money will not be returned". Exam fee has to be hiked from 100 to 2,500.
The forms were rejected on several reasons. Those forms were rejected in case of students not filling up details as asked by the university. Where as some of them were such forms where candidates had filled up disciplines in forms in which university will not conduct M.Phil or Ph.D exam. He claimed that proper information was given to the students about how to fill up the forms. Besides, the university has published wrong date of examination in the notification. The university has published the date of examination as October 22 instead of September 22.
The university admitted the mistake and Bharti said that all had happened because of typing mistake. "It was mistakenly printed as October 22. We have informed candidates about it. The exam will be conducted in two sessions", she explained.
On listing all the defects the president of Barkatullah University Teaching Association H.S.Yadav said, "The notification says the time for Ph.D will be calculated from the date when the student has registered for doctoral studies. As per the provision, registration will be done after the course work and thereafter announcement of results. This would mean that students would stand to lose about eight months".
However, the rejection of forms have led to the adversity of the University.
